The best parks in Oslo, Norway

Chilling in a park is a great way to spend a summer’s day in Oslo! No matter where you are staying, there will be a park nearby.

Some have small lakes, some have art, some have a basketball court, and more. The parks of Oslo are mostly very well maintained and can fit most needs.

Vigelandsparken.

This is one of the most popular parks in all of Oslo. As it is mentioned in most guidebooks about Oslo this park gets incredibly crowded. And it is  probably where you can find the most tourists in Oslo.

This is a statue park in Oslo west that showcases the lives work of  Gustav Vigeland. Do take a stroll in this park to see the 200 statues and when you get tired just roll out your  blanket or sit on a bench until the legs are rested. See more about this park here vigelandsparken

Bonus; This park is located very close to the shopping street Bogstadveien

Ekeberg parken

A great park to see some modern art, enjoy nature and spectacular views.

To reach this park, the best way is to walk from the central train station to the Bjørvika tram station and take the tram from there. This way will take you past the Opera building, The new main Library, the Munch museum and som great modern architecture when you pass barcode.

Bonus; If you have the money there is a restaurant with great views on top, a nice spot for a lunch. If this is not in your budget this park has benches with wonderful views where you can eat the lunch you brought with you for free

Slottsparken

A very well kept park right smack in the middle of oslo. This park belongs to the Royal castle so you can actually see the changing of the royal guards while chilling in the park. Great for a coffee break while touring the city, and the castle makes for a great view.

Myrraløkka

Myrraløkka is not a very well known park, however it’s one of my absolute favorites. Maybe because i used to live in the area which in my opinion is one of the best. if you continue through hip grünerløkka you will find Torshov and Sagene. You can even take a walk along  Akerselva all the way up to this park.

In summer there are sometimes concerts here for free. Visit this site Concerts in Oslo   to see when.

this park is also surrounded by old houses from the time the river running next to Myrraløkka was a  part of the industry in Oslo.
